From A Land Far Away-
Kuwait, a place where sand is cultivated and harvested!

This is where we ended up and sent our cargo! We made it finally, after waiting outside of a ‘box’ area of 30 square miles, for 2 days. Making round turns every 2 hours on a ship almost a 1000 ft. and in between traffic, was a chore. (We’ve been here for a couple of days, now.)
Then, After ‘waiting’ for what seemed to be 2 hours for the Pilot that was ‘on his way’, our Arrival was later in the evening-almost six hours after initially getting word we would go into Port from our ‘waiting area’.
Once we arrived-the Army started their routine of off-loading cargo. Well, It ended up the Army had hardly any experience moving cars within a confined space-let alone on a ship. This ship is like a parking garage, and the familiar ‘pillars’ at regularly spaced intervals have to be guarded against hits from moving vehicles. The weather the next day was blowing ‘dust’-fine sand particles-shutting down operations, every so often. And would you believe..I saw ships bringing in what looks like SAND?!!!!! Barges of it? Go figure!
The Army was slow in moving off cargo, as well. Their tactics had one guy guiding a vehicle, while 12 others watched. Anyway, the off-load took, literally, 12-20 hours longer than expected. At one point, I had to ‘direct vehicles’-putting my past experience of being a lot-attendant, to use. (Thanks FORD! for my experience at Folsom Lake Ford back in 1993)
Then, We were just ready to depart, when the port ordered a shutdown of all shipping in and out of port, due to high winds. High winds to them indicated 18 mph on the land-lubber scale (15 knots to us).
So here we are, awaiting to depart in a land not so great to be in, And stuck by mother-nature. Oh well..It gave me a chance to take a short nap in between Watches.
Until next time,
Have a nice day,
Nadir
