Weather’s a changin’..

Well, we’ve been at anchor since 6pm last night. Apparently due to the high winds, blizzard-like conditions and high seas, we have to wait it out rather than head into port. We chose an area just a mile off the ‘beach’ around Macinac Island . During my Watch last night, we had winds exceeding 50mph and sleet that looked nearly vertical as it came down.

This is only the beginning of these types of conditions and with temperatures down in the 30’s, I can only imagine what might the potential be.
One finally footnote- while catching a midnight snack and using the ship’s own, below-deck, weather tunnel, I noticed a bat flying within the tunnel and as it headed straight for me, it almost ran into me! I couldn’t tell if it was a small bird but noticed the way it was flapping its wings. I tell you- I know things are strange, with the weather and all, but this tops the list!
Have a great day!
