Delayed Sailing
Lake Charles, LA - Alongside Citgo Dock
I am writing to you as we sit along the dock, fully loaded with cargo destined for Tampa, Florida awaiting orders to set sail. We received word last night to push back our Departure until this morning, as a result of weather concerns further down the Calcasieu River. No word,though, on a Pilot even though I have the VHF radio set to Channel 66 and keeping a close ear from Vessel Traffic Information.
An overcast morning exists with dark clouds looming to the West, but otherwise calm. I’ve taken the time to add some information to the relief notes which I will furnish for the next Third Mate to take over my spot.
Strong freshly brewed coffee is wafting throughout this bridge as I grinded some French Roast beans from a large bag of Whole Foods brand coffee.
