Nothing out of the ordinary!
Course: 090 True, Speed: 13.9 knots
100 nautical miles southwest the “South West Pass” Louisiana.
We’re aboard a happy little tanker enroute to a happy little town folks call “Tampa!” And that’s all I have to say about that! Apart from getting a replacement Able Seaman to fill in for Johnson who left the vessel for family reasons, everything seems to be going alright.
AB Geoff is a seasoned crew member who normally works aboard the tanker, Seabulk Trader. He knows what is expected in port, both in Lake Charles and in Tampa. He also has been able to steer while the pilot barked out orders, which is a good thing. He’ll be assuming the four-to-eight, under my direction.
It seems as if we’ve not have the best, lately, of recent hires that could keep this behemoth on a steady course without some issues. Steering a ship is more difficult than what it appears, yet can be simple in nature, to acquire the feel of it once it’s mastered.
The repaired blower was received while alongside the dock in Lake Charles. This repaired component hopefully will work during cargo operations. Keep your fingers crossed as we are doing the same.
The ship is expected to call into Citgo dock, Tampa, by 0400 on Sunday morning. Until then, have a great weekend, folks
