Arrival Tampa, then homebound!

At Sea: En route for Tampa, Course: 090 True, Speed: 12.7 Knots

I’ve been given evidence to prove that my Relief has been dispatched to the ship by Arrival into Tampa on the 22nd. My position will be filled by a mate who is familiar with this class of ship as he’s been working on the Chemical Trader for awhile.

Rumors are, this ship will not have a load of cargo once she goes on “spot charter” or what I refer as an ‘as needed basis”, at midnight on the 1st of May. Tampa!

At Sea, Course: 270 True, Speed: 11.8 knots

This past Tampa call enabled the crew to go ashore a bit. I even bear witness to a few hours of evening entertainment in nearby Ybor City.

Saturday night was bustling with all walks of life, young and old. Crowds walked along the boulevard on 7th Avenue and weirdoes were intertwined with the weary. Not too much concern however, as there was a definite presence of law enforcement to keep stability. [Read more →]

April Fools Day

Lake Charles, LA

My grandfather had an expression which made me think of this day which goes like this: “Only the Wise are sure; The Fool’s are certain”. Asking me to ask if he was “sure”, he replied, “No! I’m certain”.

For some reason this was funny to me, even if I didn’t get this sort of joke- which took me a week to figure out. [Read more →]
