Garden in bloom!
Have you seen what colorful arrangement lies in your garden or flowerbed or what home projects await?
I’ve been the busy bee, as an ongoing manicuring of the perimeter has rewarded me with quite a nice spectacle of colorful arrangements both in the front and backyard. I believe that the more I apply my talents to a project in the yard, or around the house, a job might crop up for work. This is like a superstition, if you will, that I have.
The moment I start in on a long, drawn out project, the union will be calling and offer me a job which I might not be able to refuse, and be required to set off within a day or two of accepting.
You see, this situation happened a couple of years ago, just as I was finishing up refinishing a couple of Adirondack Chairs, I had acquired from an estate sale. The two weather beaten, and splintered lounge chairs were in need of a good sanding and a finish coat of varnish. After nearly a week of constant sanding by using my talents from a Summer of working with sailboats in 2000, I was just about to apply the second coat of varnish when I got the call for work. I’d say between a day or two later, I was on a flight destined for a cargo ship.
I’m also anxious in going to a sporting event before my luck runs out. If I don’t go to a baseball game now, the opportunity won’t return until next year! I’ve made arrangement for a Detroit Tigers versus Chicago White Sox and asked if my father-in-law, Sam and his brother-in-law, Uncle Frank would like to accompany me.
The last time I’ve been to a ball game was when the Oakland A’s played the Yankees at the Coliseum in Oakland. I’ve always been a fan of baseball, and recalled then how the boys of summer could offer a great afternoon or evening for their fans. I’m looking forward to the twenty-fourth of July as I will bring a glove, just in case a stray ball veers our way. I’m most excited, as you can tell!
I’ve dropped eighteen spots to thirty on the waiting list after only a month of being registered with the union!
Have a great week, folks!
